Decomposition and Nutrient Release from Larix olgensis Stumps and Coarse Roots in Northeast China 33-Year Chronosequence Study

چکیده
Stumps and coarse roots form an important C pool nutrient in a Larix olgensis (Larix Henry) plantation ecosystem, their decomposition processes would affect cycling dynamics of the overall plantation. We studied release nutrients from stumps that were cleared 0, 6, 16, 26 33 years ago Northeast China. The divided into stump discs (SD), knots (SK), (>10 cm diameter) (CR1), medium-coarse (5–10 (CR2) fine-coarse (2–5 (CR3). During entire 33-year study period, SK, CR1, CR2 CR3 lost 87.37%, 96.24%, 75.76% 91.98% initial mass, respectively. average annual rate (k) was 0.068 for SD, 0.052 0.092 0.066 CR3. After decomposition, 5% its C, 2%, SK accumulated 1%, indicating slow release. N residues 186%, 109%, 158% 170%, Coarse released P significantly faster than SD with 13% CR1. cellulose, hemicellulose lignin roots. results show could contribute to soil fertility recovery serve as long-term reservoir forest vegetation.

Modeling Variation in Crown Profile with Tree Status and Cardinal Directions for Planted Larix olgensis Henry Trees in Northeast China
Crown profile models were developed for north, east, south, and west crown directions of dominant trees, intermediate trees, and suppressed trees in planted stands of Larix olgensis Henry in Northeast China. A total of 139 sample trees were randomly selected, and all branches of each tree were measured. A segmented power equation, segmented polynomial equation, modified Weibull equation, and Ko...

Root decomposition and nutrient release are typically estimated from dried root tissues; however, it is unlikely that roots dehydrate prior to decomposing. Soil fertility and root diameter may also affect the rate of decomposition.. This study monitored mass loss and nutrient concentrations of dried and fresh roots of two size classes (<2 and 2-5 rnrn) over a 12-month period in fertilized and c...
متن کاملMixing Effects of Understory Plant Litter on Decomposition and Nutrient Release of Tree Litter in Two Plantations in Northeast China
Understory vegetation plays a crucial role in carbon and nutrient cycling in forest ecosystems; however, it is not clear how understory species affect tree litter decomposition and nutrient dynamics. In this study, we examined the impacts of understory litter on the decomposition and nutrient release of tree litter both in a pine (Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica) and a poplar (Populus × xiaozhu...
